Green Tea is the least oxidized of all the oxidized or processed tea types. It most closely resembles the natural appearance of the tea leaf itself. It is loaded with healthy nutrients saved all winter by the plant and just bursting into growth early spring. Green tea is a delicious choice of beverage that is known to have very high antioxidant levels and a variety of caffeine levels and flavors. Flavors range from nutty to toasted and flowery depending on the way it is processed.
From plant to your pot green tea goes through:
Plucking ~ Fixing ~ Rolling ~ Firing ~ Sorting
The best way to steep a cup of green tea always starts by ensuring you clean your vessel very well, be it a teapot or a mug or a tea press. Then select good water (a bottle of spring water is recommended) and boil it in a clean kettle to 185 degrees Fahrenheit and pour it on your loose leaf green tea. The measurement is ~6 ounces of water to one teaspoon of tea leaves. Let it steep 1-4 minutes or to your preference.
1oz loose leaf tea = up to 15 servings of 6oz cups of tea (depending on how strong you prefer your tea)
